About
Zenxelmor is a reference site covering houseplant light requirements and placement for homes in Poland.
What This Site Covers
Zenxelmor documents the relationship between common houseplants and the light conditions available in Polish homes. The content is organised around four practical light categories — low light, bright indirect, bright direct, and specific window orientations — and cross-referenced with species that are available through Polish garden centres, supermarkets, and online plant retailers.
The articles focus on conditions specific to Polish apartments and houses: the short winter photoperiod, the north-facing rooms common in post-war housing stock, the effects of balconies and building density on usable window light, and the seasonal variation that affects any plant kept in Poland year-round.
Content is written in English and draws on publicly available horticultural reference sources including the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) plant database and Plants for a Future (PFAF). All plant images are sourced from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences and credited accordingly.
Scope and Limitations
This site covers light requirements only. Watering schedules, fertiliser regimes, potting mix preferences, and pest management are outside the current scope. Light levels cited are approximate and reflect conditions in central Poland (Warsaw, approx. 52°N); conditions in southern Poland (Kraków, 50°N) are marginally better in winter; conditions in northern coastal areas (Trójmiasto, ~54°N) are marginally worse.
The light figures referenced (lux values) are indicative rather than precisely measured. They are consistent with published ranges in horticultural literature and broadly applicable to indoor plant care decisions.
